not so sure about wisdom of light on in daytime. us air force did test of aircraft visability prior to RADAR and found that anti-aircraft spotters (gun crews) had more difficulty seeing an aircraft covered (believe it or not)with bright lamps than they did seeing ordinary unlighted planes. tests in daylight. obviously at night lamps must be lit,
